An immersive, hands-on three-hour block printing workshop where you'll explore pattern, colour and traditional textile printing while creating two beautiful pieces to take home.

Design, Print, Repeat

Spend three creative hours with me learning the process of traditional block printing using beautiful hand-carved wooden printing blocks.

This is my fuller block printing experience, giving you plenty of time to learn, experiment and really enjoy the process of taking a design from block to cloth.

We'll begin by exploring the blocks, colours and different ways you can build and repeat a pattern. You'll practise your ideas first, experiment with placement and colour combinations, and learn how to apply fabric inks and achieve a good, clear print.

Once you're happy with your ideas, you'll move on to creating your two finished textile pieces.

What you'll make

Each participant will design and hand block print:

  • One cotton tote bag
  • One tea towel

Both finished pieces are yours to take home.

More than just following a template

I want you to have the freedom to experiment and develop a design that feels like your own.

I'll guide you throughout the workshop, demonstrating techniques and helping you with colour, placement, pattern and printing, but you'll make the creative decisions.

There is no previous experience required. Complete beginners are very welcome.

Take a little creative time for yourself

This is a relaxed and interactive workshop, with time to slow down, get your hands inky and enjoy making something away from everyday distractions.

We'll also stop for coffee, tea, samosas and light refreshments, which are included in your workshop.

What's included

All traditional wooden printing blocks, fabric inks, practice fabric, equipment and materials are provided, along with your tote bag and tea towel.

Tea, samosas and light refreshments are also included.

You simply need to come ready to experiment, print and create.
